Very similar, Nikon is lighter; lens on the Sony is slighly faster
(better in lower light).

Given that the Sony has gotten less than rave reviews, and I'm not sure
about the Nikon ... consider it really from a POV of printing. If
you're not going to print regularly at above 8x12", then the 8 mpix is
perhaps a bit of overkill, IMO. A Coolpic 5400, Canon G5 or Minolta A1
would be excellent alternatives as would be the Sony 717. (The A1 is
currently considered best overall v. Canon G5, Nikon 5400 and Sony 828
per Chasseur D'Images. See my [EQ] post on rec.photo.digital).
